The Story
Liquitex Matte Gel Medium increases viscosity of soft body paints, giving a thicker consistency. It reduces surface shine, increases color depth and transparency and extends your color further without affecting acrylic stability. It also maintains durability and archival quality of your paints. This is semi-opaque when wet and transparent when dry - when used very thickly it may dry semi-opaque.
Liquitex Matte Gel Medium slows the drying time and enhances appearance of brush marks. It can also be used for priming rough exterior walls for gesso application before mural painting.
Liquitex Matte Gel Medium can be fully intermixable with all Liquitex products. Mix into Heavy Body Acrylic to extend volume and maintain viscosity or mix into Soft Body or Acrylic Ink to extend volume and thicken.
This medium can be thinned by diluting with up to 25% water. Mix as much as you like into acrylic colour to create the viscosity and transparency you want - the more you add, the more transparent your colour will become. Apply with a brush as a collaging glue and fixative
Do not vigorously over-brush as this can result in a foggy, hazy look when dry.
